Re: An interesting thought
Agree with this. I also think there's a huge Freudian influence on this, particularly with regards to MD's influences: Persona and 3 Women. On the subject of the latter, Lynch had just recently worked with Sissy Spacek on The Straight Story and I wonder how that manifested itself subconsciously. The...

Re: Support the Lynchian short film Queen of the Angels
Unlikely you'll ever read this since you just signed up to plug your film but I hope it gets made. I liked the look of the little teaser you put together.
That being said, this does sound freakishly similar to Inland Empire.

Re: Did Lynch actually say TP & Lost Highway share a univers
I can imagine him possibly describing the two as occupying "the same world" in a thematic/cinema sense and it being misconstrued.

Unquestionably later.

Re: Terrence Malick's Knight of Cups, featuring Don Davis
Is this legit? Can't wait for Knight of Cups - think we've got to wait till January here in the UK though. I'd be curious to know if this really is Don Davis' speech to Bobby, so please let us know once you got a chance to see the film what your impression was. I think it occurred somewhere in the ...

Re: Terrence Malick's Knight of Cups, featuring Don Davis
Last week I saw Terrence Malick's Knight of Cups... it can be an interesting film, especially if you are interested in seeing nice condos and houses on the U.S. West Coast ;-) And if you are fan of Twin Peaks... somewhere in the stream of consciousness that is Knight of Cups, you can hear Don Davis...

1. Inland Empire 2. Lost Highway 3. FWWM 4. Mulholland Dr. 5. Blue Velvet 6. Eraserhead 7. Wild at Heart 8. The Elephant Man 9. The Straight Story 10. Dune I love Inland Empire for many of the reasons that others seem to dislike it. It's pure, uncut Lynch. Every time I watch it I find something new...
Re: swansong
Regardless if this turns out to be Lynch's swan song, it seems much more certain that - at roughly 10 to 20 hours - this "third season" will be his Magnum Opus as a director/filmmaker*. Something thrilling to look forward to, indeed! [*"filmmaker" to include shooting digitally, ...
Re: swansong
I think the internet is definitely going to aid him if he wants to get more esoteric things made. There's a big place for cult on Netflix/on demand.
Re: swansong
I think (hope) the opposite: that it will spark a stream of creative filmy thoughts and he'll start making things again (didn't Laura Dern talk about him having a loose idea for something a few years ago and it was "his best yet"?) There were set reports that he was in his element, improvi...

Re: Criterion Collection (Rumored Blu-Ray Release)
Reviews from Blu-ray.com and dvdbeaver both say that the advance in picture quality over previous editions is astounding, beyond expectations. I honestly didn't expect this. This is fantastic. I wouldn't go that far, but it looks a slight upgrade on the Studio Canal version. Although SC has better ...

David O. Russell
Not sure if anyone's noticed this, but David O. Russell has deliberately tried to surround himself with people from Lynch's filmography. I've never seen him directly quoted on DL, though he did list Blue Velvet in his top ten film list. Anyway, here goes: Naomi Watts in I Heart Huckabees Bonnie Aaro...
