Re: Recommendations for Watching While Waiting for Season 3
Bruno Dumont is one of the most provocative of contemporary directors (along with Von Trier and Noe) but as regards Lynch, little in his output comes closer to evoking those qualities than his Twentynine Palms , a terrifying vision of masculinity gone awry but handled in a way that sublimates that t...

Re: Recommendations for Watching While Waiting for Season 3
Absolutely agree with you on Ferrara. One of my favorite filmmakers too. I would especially add The Funeral and Mary to the list of titles you mentioned. Both of those are superb but too often overlooked. Also agree with you on Refn. I love his work and consider Neon Demon easily among the best film...

Re: Recommendations for Watching While Waiting for Season 3
Anything by Abel Ferrara is usually also well worth watching and his 90's classics New Rose Hotel , The Blackout and Dangerous Game all resonate with Lynchian tropes, themes and aesthetic flourishes. Nina Menkes, yet another experimental artist, has made a career of off beat feminist leaning cinema....

Re: Recommendations for Watching While Waiting for Season 3
Novelist Paul Auster has actually also directed a few films and one in particular, Lulu on the Bridge , may be of great interest to Lynch fans. The film deals with Auster's usual subjects of post-modern inquiry and skepticism as to the nature of ostensible reality, here played out via a film within ...

Re: Recommendations for Watching While Waiting for Season 3
Just a few suggestions and some recommendations I haven't seen mentioned so far. I had to break this list up because otherwise it wouldn't post, so this is Part 1. Some Call It Loving , a 1973 film starring Zalman King, is a fascinating riff on the Sleeping Beauty legend and features a few links to ...

Re: Recommendations for Watching While Waiting for Season 3
Liked TD season 2 a lot more than the massively overrated first season. It's more compelling, more convincing, better structured, better pulp and even better metaphysics. I realize this is a minority view but I can live with that. This season does what the first could not do as far as I'm concerned:...

Re: Beyond Season 3?
Come on, how can you - as a rabid TP fan - not be out of your mind at the possibility of the wonderful and strange universe of the series being explored for, say, 5 or 6, heck, even 10 seasons? It's now or never, say I. The time is finally ripe! Not to beat a dead horse, but 3 reasons: 1) Personall...

I actually really like this presumed emphasis on the larger mystery. Hopefully that's indicative of the concentration of the new series as well.

Re: Beyond Season 3?
And I don't buy these "other people would dilute Lynch's brilliant, untainted vision" arguments. If that's the way one looks at it, how can it be that he's a fan of the original Peaks?.. Well, technically I'm more of a fan of Lynch than Peaks if you want to get right down to it. But, havi...

Re: Beyond Season 3?
I don't want to see any more beyond what we have coming to us now, whether that takes the form of one or two more seasons. I can't imagine that Lynch will commit like this again and so, even if he was to be heavily involved in a projected future of the show, any future seasons with multiple other di...

And it's been figured out in conjunction with Lynch so it will give us an idea as to what will likely not be emphasized in the new season.

Yeah, that's where I'm getting it too. The problem with Amazon is that even if they knock down the price there will still be shipping costs to factor in whereas with Book Depository there are none.

Re: A List of My Favorite Lynch Films
1. Dune 2. Blue Velvet 3. FWWM 4. Wild at Heart 5. Elephant Man 6. Lost Highway 7. Mulholland Drive 8. Straight Story 9. Eraserhead 10. Inland Empire To be clear, I don't think that Dune is a better movie than Blue Velvet, I just happen to like it more. As this is a list of favorites, I can't help b...

Re: How will the new Twin Peaks be received?
My issue with a continuance beyond what we'll have is that I just cannot imagine Lynch handing off the reins of this, his most personal and clearly dearly beloved of projects, to a bunch of other people to take in whatever direction. This may get split into two quasi-seasons if the episode amount is...
