Re: The Owl Cave Ring - thematic significance
I am pretty sure I read an article in which he was quoted as saying "I am a Hindu I guess" but I don't have the article. Maybe I'm remembering it wrong but in any case by virtue of being an adherent of TM he would be very close to Hindu if not actually a Hindu. As for terminology such as V...

Re: The Owl Cave Ring - thematic significance

Re: David Lynch: Ranking His Movies From Worst To Best
I also found Dune to be less rewarding but I had a friend who was really into the book and he seemed to get a lot out of it so that might be a factor. And I found Straight Story to be a disappointment but really should watch it again. I think people who didn't like it were accused of only liking Lyn...

Re: Twin Peaks: The Missing Pieces - analysis/thoughts etc
I wholeheartedly agree about the connection between garmonbozia and the vedic stuff...even if it's not literally soma it's still a similar device by which karmic relationships are sown and harvested, binding one to the stimulations of different experiential worlds, and as pointed out, related to sac...

Re: David Lynch: Ranking His Movies From Worst To Best
As to the writer's comments on "Inland Empire", he does not know what he is talking about. That film was started as two separate dl.com series ("A Meeting Upstairs" and "axxon n."), and sort of accidentally came together as a 'film' when Dave got lost in editing it. It...

Re: Lost Highway set in the same world as Twin Peaks?
I suspect that Lynch views the world of 'real' experience as no more privileged than that of the imagination and considers that all experiences and identities, good and bad, are inextricably interconnected. So with that said I can see him categorizing all his work in the same world of fluid percepti...

Re: Esoteric interpretation of Lost HIghway
I think there's some truth to these kinds of interpretations but it would probably be more accurately unpacked if approached through the hindu paradigm which DL subscribes to.

Re: The Believers (1987)
wow i didn't realize this movie was written by Frost...i think in one of the scenes, where the father is talking to someone in a phone booth in the park, there is a faint outline of a smiley face in red graffiti that resembles blood.
