Re: Forum Closing April 15th, 2022

To everyone planning on joining a successor site, can we brainstorm ideas. Before I place any orders: What should it be called, presuming it requires a name change? New Dugpa? Tulpa? Something else? Also, would everyone prefer an exact 1-1 replica of the forum branch structure found here or would a...

The news about the forum closing took my mind off of any potential David Lynch project being premiered at Cannes. It would help if we learned on Thursday that season 4 is coming, but, yeah, my enthusiasm kind of waned rapidly... At least the timing is interesting and makes me wonder.

Re: Forum Closing April 15th, 2022

I know that I'm a relatively new user here, but as many have already expressed, I'm devastated, heartbroken. This is the only online community that I'm a part of; I have no accounts on social networks, I'm not registered to any other forum, nothing, so I've started feeling like a true member of a un...

Re: Twin Peaks Premiered on ABC 32 Years Ago Today

April 8, 1990. Where were you? Were you watching or did you catch up later? On that day, I was still a few months away from being born :) I got into David Lynch in late 2009, watched all of his films except Fire Walk with Me in two or three weeks, and then in the first half of 2010 I found my new f...

I'm very skeptical about the Cannes rumour, and if I had to bet, I wouldn't bet on a brand new David Lynch feature film premiering anytime soon; however, it's so much more fun to see this thread alive again and to speculate that even if nothing happens, it will still be worth it :)

Re: Star Trek: Picard

Yes - I think Number One saved the season from going completely off the rails - at least at this point. Much better episode. Wish they’d let him direct the whole season! My only complaint was that I felt they packed too much in this episode — wish they had more of a build-up and let it simmer a lit...

Eh, there's nothing we can do. Until we hear something - if we ever hear something - at least there are enough great things out there to keep us occupied for multiple lifetimes. I hardly find the time to watch or read even a small percentage of things I'm interested in.

Re: Star Trek: Picard

As I have suspected, yesterday's episode was an improvement and a shift in tone. I guess they're giving two episodes in a row to each director, and so far, the differences have been quite obvious - but I guess the writers are playing a large part in this too. I feel like there's a lot of retconning ...

Re: Introductions

The photo is of the actress Hermine Karagheuz in the 1976 movie Duelle . It's a kind of noir -inflected supernatural drama directed by Jacques Rivette, which, to my mind, has some accidental affinities with Twin Peaks . Thank you for the clarification! There are a few films by Jacques Rivette that ...

Re: DUNE to Be Released 10/21/21

I was fine with it winning the technical awards because it was technically sound. I just didn't really connect with the script or performances as much but it's a well crafted bit of filmmaking, at least. I don't mind Dune winning the technical awards, except for cinematography, which I would have l...

Re: Star Trek: Picard

I feel like we’re being hit over the head too hard with political issues, and while I agree with what they’re trying to show and say, I think they’re trying to tackle too much at once, and the story is getting lost in commentary about current social issues. I concur; we've had two episodes in a row...

Re: The Criterion Channel

In your country, do you have a specific streaming service that might cater to viewers with a more artistic bent? We don't have any real streaming services of our own; most of the younger people are now subscribed to Netflix, and HBO is very popular as well. TV networks do have their own application...

It seems that there are vague hints that Paramount might be up for sale: https://www.indiewire.com/2022/03/param ... 234705887/

Could this be the reason for all the changes inside the company that we have discussed here recently?
