Laura is not actually resting in pain so that's one quite shitty. Cooper's dreams contain no dreams of Cooper and that's quite problematic too. I've always loved 'Zen' because that's imo a great throwaway to the bottle trowing scene. That would be my obvious vote for the best title but for the worst?
I think I'm actually have to vote for Cooper's dreams. Rest in pain at least have a dramatic ring to it while Cooper's dreams just is a very misleading title in every way possible.
What is the most horrible translated German episode title (season 1)?

I voted "Realization Time", but "Rest in Pain" is really bad too. "Traces to Nowhere" is so so. All of them are fairly poor, though for some reason I sort of like "Zen, or the Skill to Catch a Killer"!

I have no idea where this will lead us, but I have a definite feeling it will be a place both wonderful and strange.

the Season 1 titles isn't quite as cringeworthy as those for Season 2 but there's a couple that is quite fucking bad.. as many others have stated "Rest in Pain" just feels all kind of wrong, but i do really like "Zen..." for Episode 3, it's strange but it works in context.
were these titles originally written and conceived in the German language and was then adapted and translated to English?

As far as I know, that's how it's been, yes. The German airings even showed the titles at the beginnings of episodes, complete with the green font and all.claaa7 wrote:

The "original" titles are:
Spuren ins Nichts
Zen oder die Kunst, einen Mörder zu fassen
Ruhe in Unfrieden
Der Einarmige
Coopers Träume
Zeit des Erkennens
Der letzte Abend
I got them from here.
None of them are better, at least not significantly, in German.

s1 looks par for the course, yeah. I like "Zeit des Erkennens" a little better but that's just how the German language rolls.
s2... ep16 "Selbstjustiz" is a rather specific form of arbitrary law, isn't it, it's vigilante law, and I prefer the more generic English translation. While I like Bruderzwist a little better but, again, that's just German being German. Having a word for "dispute between brothers" makes it sound more like something that happens, a regular occurrence. A dispute between brothers.

Couldn't find a Season 2 poll so started one here - viewtopic.php?f=35&t=4247.
