Based upon all of the available evidence, it seems that Frost is open to it, and Lynch is very into it if The Return is well received as a whole.Nikki Grace wrote:It's not entirely about the money. Maybe Mark Frost and David Lynch don't want to continue it?Voided wrote:I've pre-ordered both soundtracks and will get the blu-ray etc. I'll do all I can....but is it enough?docLEXfisti wrote:Where is all this negativity coming from? I wouldn't write off a Season 4 just yet - all can happen. Let's hope for the best.
Just pre-ordered the OST, releasing on Sept. 8th. Hopefully a Blu-Ray set will turn up soon as well... Then Shwotime will see, what money can be made
The other day someone posted this interview with Sherilyn Fenn from September 1st, wherein she stated that "He [David Lynch] said if people loved it he would do another one, and the hardest part is just sitting down and writing it."

None of this is to say that I personally believe that there will be another installment of Twin Peaks. I have no idea, but I do think that a good reception would motivate Lynch to do it, and the primary question is whether Showtime would be willing to fund it. That said, I have no idea what metric Lynch would use to decide whether it had a good reception. Hopefully not live viewing numbers in the United States! Despite some dissent, fans and critics have overwhelmingly given The Return a big thumbs up, and the show has given Showtime its biggest ever boost in streaming subscriptions.
Returning to the question of Showtime's willingness to fund more Twin Peaks, it's interesting that Showtime CEO David Nevins very recently responded to a question of the possibility of alternative cuts of The Return (say, on a Blu Ray) by saying that he'd definitely fund it, but didn't think Lynch would do something like that. Nevins also added that the only thing he'd have done differently with The Return would be to have given David Lynch the budget that he wanted "three weeks earlier".
